It’s tough. There’s a hard choice to be made. . . and then there are the pie-in-the-sky opportunities that someone is presenting to you. Be realistic to avoid regrets.

You are exhausted after a long road. In the past, you were in a position of authority or were under the thumb of some paternalistic authority. Right now, you have the resources to move forward, and someone may be tempting you with pie-in-the-sky opportunities. You’re worried about the road ahead. It could all come crashing down. Or perhaps you want to unsettle the status quo. Change, after all, isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Ultimately, whatever change you experience following your choice, you may feel a sense of regret and nostalgic longing for the past. But remember, we tend to see the past through rose-tinted glasses. By all means, think with fondness of the past. But you cannot stay in this reflective phase forever. Enjoy the time for reflection, and then use your reflections to think of how you might move forward.
